By plane + car

By train and bus

The town of Verneuil-sur-Avre has an SNCF train station that allows you to reach the centre of Paris in 1 hour => Paris Montparnasse - Granville line (stop at Verneuil-sur-Avre).

Come and follow in the footsteps of your ancestors in Charente-Maritime

The town of Marennes-Hiers-Brouage is accessible by car from Bordeaux (2h) or Paris (5h20) following the A10 motorway or from Nantes (2h25) following the A83 motorway.

The bridges over the Charente at Rochefort, the Seudre at Marennes/La Tremblade and Oléron are free.

By plane + car

Bordeaux airport => 2 hours from Marennes-Hiers-Brouage

La Rochelle airport => 1 hour from Marennes Hiers-Brouage

By train and bus

The Marennes basin is not served directly by train. However, at the railway stations of La Rochelle, Rochefort and Surgères, connections by bus or coach are available to Marennes.

In addition to the bus, it is possible to rent a car at the stations of La Rochelle, Surgères and Saintes.

By boat

There are several maritime links between La Rochelle and the island of Oleron.

La Rochelle - Ile d'Oléron link from April to the end of September and during the All Saints' holiday.
Inter-island cruises La Rochelle/Saint-Denis d'Oléron connections, from July to August.
Saint Denis Cruises : La Rochelle/Saint-Denis d'Oléron connections.
Passenger boat + bikes to reach the island of Oleron and the mainland - In service from July to August.
